Smartodds is a privately owned company providing statistical research and sports modelling services to our clients.
We take our obligations as a ‘data controller’ very seriously and meet our obligations under the General Data Protection Regulation (2016/679 EU) (“GDPR”).
Smartodds are always looking to recruit talented new employees, and as part of our recruitment process we collect and process personal data relating to job applicants. This may include, without limitation, right to work documents and identification details (name, age, gender), contact details, information about your current remuneration and benefits and details of your skills, qualifications and employment history.
Smartodds shall collect this information from you directly, from your appointed referees, or from a recruitment agency that you have engaged with and for the legitimate purpose of assessing your suitability to work for Smartodds and, if applicable, providing you with an employment contract. Data may be shared internally, but will not be shared with third parties during the assessment process, although we may subsequently share your data with third parties such as former employers to obtain references and to conduct other background checks.
If you decide not to provide us with some or all of this data then we may not be able to process your application or at all.
Your data will be stored on our IT systems and will only be accessed by persons who need to view it in order to assess your suitability for a role. If your application is unsuccessful your data will be kept on file for up to 6 years in case there are future employment opportunities for which you may be suited, and for which we may wish to contact you directly.
We have appropriate security measures in place to prevent personal information from being accidentally lost, or used or accessed in an unauthorised way. We have procedures in place to deal with any suspected data security breach, and will notify you and the Information Commissioner’s Officer of any suspected or actual data security breach where we are legally required to do so.
As a data subject, you have a number of rights. You can:
- access and obtain a copy of your data on request;
- require us to change incorrect or incomplete data;
- require us to delete your data
- require us to stop processing your data - but we may thereafter be unable to continue our review of our job application
- receive a copy of your data in a machine-readable format
