Role Summary

We have an exciting new opportunity to join our QA team at Smartodds as mid-level Software Tester. Based in North London, Smartodds specialise in providing in-depth research and analysis on numerous sporting events all over the globe and producing world-class bespoke software platforms. We are seeking a passionate mid-level Software Tester with extensive expertise in testing methodologies to enhance our testing strategies. You should have a comprehensive understanding of manual testing practices and be skilled in creating effective test plans. A crucial aspect of your role will be to contribute to the refinement of our testing processes, ensuring thorough coverage while optimising execution time. You will also be working closely with our dedicated automation QA team and other cross-functional teams across various projects. Tech Stack  Visual Studio 2022, .NET 8, Azure DevOps, Kubernetes, Azure Service Fabric, RMQ, Redis, Dapper, EF Core, SQL Server, PostgreSQL, Git, Windows, Linux, WPF, Angular, ASP.NET, WAMP, SignalR and many more.

Key Requirements

  • Work with the rest of the team to establish a QA discipline that promotes high quality software releases
  • Collaborate with product owners and development teams to thoroughly analyse and review software requirements, ensuring a clear understanding of functionality, business logic, and acceptance criteria
  • Envision, plan, develop and execute testing of our applications at multiple levels of complexity
  • Work with developers to reproduce, locate, and identify bugs
  • Explore and evaluate potential test tooling with our dedicated automation team
  • Assist project and product leaders in making risk-managed planning and release decisions
  • Participate in software release activities, including pre-release testing and post-release validation to ensure successful deployment of software updates

Skills & Experiences

  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Information Technology, or a related field
  • ISTQB Certified Tester – Foundation Level
  • 5+ years working as a Software Tester
  • Strong understanding of software testing concepts, methodologies, and best practices
  • Experience with testing APIs in a service-oriented architecture
  • Knowledge of planning, bug tracking & collaboration tools is essential
  • Hands-on experience of managing multiple test environments

Preferred  

  • ​​​SQL Server and PostgreSQL (T-SQL and PL/pgSQL queries, and basic administration)
  • Enterprise messaging systems (RabbitMQ)
  • Proficiency in one or more scripting languages (C# preferred)
  • Familiarity with betting/gaming industry
  • Keen Interest in Sport
